Chinese Herbals

Chinese herbal medicine is an important part of Chinese medicine and has also been used for centuries along with Acupuncture. It can be used together successfully for many ailments. It can also be used as a stand-alone treatment as well. When used together with Acupuncture it works well for disorders that need daily attention, as herbs are taken daily. Herbal therapy can be thought of as a bridge to the next Acupuncture treatment.

What are Chinese Herbs?

Primarily made of plants, minerals: For example, roots, rhizomes, bark, flowers, seeds, and dates.

Thousands of medicinal herbs are used in China today and have been adopted in the West because of their strength and successful results.

When should they be used?

When you need to work internally to nourish any deficiencies or clear any excesses then you would be missing out if you did not add in herbs as it can be taken daily. The aims of Chinese herbal therapy are to help regain balance in your body and to strengthen your body’s resistance to disease. As your health improves, your herb prescription may change. Some herbs may no longer be needed, while others may be introduced. I will monitor your exact conditions with you.

How are the herbs taken?

Herbs can be used alone, or combined into formulas. There are few different ways that herbs can be taken daily: Raw, Granules, capsules, Tablets, tea pills. When taken raw the herbs would need to be decocted in a tea, Granules are added to hot water and drank like tea, and Capsules have the granules inside for people who do not want to taste the herbs.
